Consumer Electronics PR Case Study
3M Privacy Filter Help Protect Business Travelers from Prying Eyes
To help build buzz and generate media coverage for 3M Privacy Filters—a low involvement tech accessory that had been on the market for several years, Hunter PR created a multi-faceted program to help business travelers find a private oasis in the airport to get work done without worrying about nosy neighbors snooping on their computer screen. The Airport Privacy Havens program started as a contest to find “private havens” at airports across the country. The contest entries were compiled to create a microsite and 3M created its own Airport Privacy Haven kiosks at some of the busiest airports—Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International. Over the years, the program garnered more than 2,200 placements and 242 targeted impressions, including placements in USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Gizmodo, Gadling, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, CNN, NPR and numerous tweets by influential travel writers.
