Timeline

Hunter PR was founded in 1989 by Barbara Hunter, a pioneering business leader and the first woman in the United States to run a public relations agency. After successfully leading two multi-national agencies from 1960-1988, Barbara created Hunter Public Relations — a new boutique agency dedicated to helping national consumer brands use strategic public relations methods to achieve sales and marketing goals.

Upon retirement in 2000, Barbara made her mark on the industry once again by turning this boutique firm over to a group of long-time staffers. This team drove the firm out of the boutique category by focusing on creating measurable, results-driving programs built on research-driven insights. Hunter PR has since become one of the most recognized mid-sized marketing communications firms in the country. Here’s a road map of some of the clients, awards and events that have helped define Hunter PR since 1989.
