Toys & Games
In the past few years, Hunter PR has played a role in developing and launching Monopoly: Here & Now (the No. 1 board game of 2006), corralled hundreds of media placements for the 3 ft. tall lifelike FurReal Friends Butterscotch Pony (named one of the top 10 toys for the 2006 holiday season) and helped Hasbro as they turn the Transformers toy line into a global entertainment property.
But toys and games are more than just “child’s play” these days.
For example, many toys today have a passionate adult collector fan base who operate niche websites and flock to conventions such as Transformers’ Bot-Con or G.I. Joe’s Joe-Con. Hunter PR regularly communicates and works with these influencers throughout the year to garner positive hits within their media as well as to showcase that passion to mainstream media.
Additionally, pop culture has deemed that “Geek is Chic.” With a team of self-described geeks, Hunter PR is able to capitalize on that trend by getting mainstream media love for brands that a few years ago lived only in the basement of the marketing mix.
Of course, it’s not “fun and games” unless the agency delivers the media hits. Recent best hits include showcasing the cast of the Trivial Pursuit: Totally 80s commercial in Entertainment Tonight and Good Morning America to unveiling the Spider-Man-themed Mr. Potato Head toy Spider Spud in USA Today’s Lifeline section.
