3M Privacy Filters Help Protect Business Travelers from Prying Eyes

Objective

Build buzz and generate media coverage for 3M Privacy Filters — a low involvement tech accessory that had already been on the market for several years.

Approach

  • Hunter PR created the multi-faceted "Airport Privacy Havens" program for business travelers, which gave them a private oasis in the airport where they could get work done without worrying about nosy neighbors.
  • The program began as a contest inviting business travelers to submit their own quiet, hidden spots in airports that enable them to work comfortably and productively.
  • In following years, Hunter PR worked with 3M to create branded Airport Privacy Haven kiosks at some of the country's busiest airports — Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International.

Results

The program has garnered more than 2,200 placements and 242 million targeted impressions, including placements in USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Gizmodo, Gadling, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, CNN, NPR and numerous tweets by influential travel writers.
